MY MONTHLY PICKS

Continuing to share what moved me and filled my cup in the month before, so that you might enjoy them as well.

These were some of the things, objects, recipes, practices, listens etc. that filled me up in January…

WHAT I MADE…

If you have been following my 41 days of NSKTV Instagram stories, you might know that I found a new Ayurvedic recipe that I really like, and that it’s this cardamon, date + tahini latte.

It’s soooo good! Cardamom is deeply grounding and nervous system strengthening, medjool dates are very nutritious, high in fiber, high in disease-fighting antioxidants + increases brain health, and tahini has anti inflammatory properties + helps to balance vata.

This drink doesn't just taste delicious, it’s also perfect for this time of the year, and to calm the nervous system, which lowers stress levels, which in turns makes us less vulnerable to disease.

Try it:

In a blender add 1 part milk (or plant based milk) and 1 part boiling water. Add 1 date (remember to remove the pit), 1 teaspoon of tahini + 1/2 a teaspoon of cardamom seeds (the black seeds, taken out of the green shell). Blend and enjoy.

WHAT I LISTENED TO…

A treasure trove of knowledge, this podcast (mini) episode combine two of the coolest ladies I know now, and my two of my favorite humans in the world. This was actually my second time listening to the interview, which originally aired in November 2024.

If you are interested in sound—from the yogic to the western science of it—you have to study with Gurujas, who is opening a space for new experiences and new knowledge of sound to come through on this planet (no I’m not kidding and I’m not exaggerating).

Thank you so much Pritam Siri for creating this conversation.

WHAT I LISTENED TO…

TEREE MER BY PREM AMRIT

This month I have enjoyed listening to Teree Mer by Prem Amrit.

This mantra is a powerful prayer mantra that helps tune you into the knowledge of the Golden Chain (particularly Guru Ram Das), and can be used before teaching (chant it once for yourself, or make it a habit to listen to the mantra while going to your class or at home before teaching online).

WHAT I BOUGHT…

A new elegant linen top to teach in + a long sleeve cotton / cashmere teeshirt for layering under in these colder months.

WHAT I ENJOYED PRACTICING…

THE WAKE UP SET

A very quick (10min) but powerful set of exercises to do first thing in the morning.

This set strengthens your core + the whole front of the body + strengthens and stimulates the glands, especially in the chest (thymus, which is responsible for producing the white blood cells, which helps strengthen the immune system), and the neck and throat (thyroid and para thyroid + the lymphatic system). Really, it is a full body stimulation and very powerful as a daily tune up or to add to your existing practice—that’s what I have been doing in January this year, and I feel much more energized and healthy than usual.
