THE NAVEL POINT

The navel point is our original and first sustained energy center (via the umbilical cord in our mother’s womb), and it is still now the point of focus when we are looking to create more energy. The navel point is the center of the third chakra but our whole mid region from just below the heart to the top of our sex organs is considered our third chakra. When we breath we stimulate this center, or ideally we would, but many have developed a shallow and unfulfilled breath that does not actually stimulate the third chakra energy, leaving us more tired and susceptible to all sorts of problems. One way that we can restore health to our third chakra area is by learning to breath properly.

The third chakra is also dealing with the virtue of commitment. How committed we are is dependent on our third chakra strength, and by exercising this point we exercise our ability to commit. This is the chakra which balance all the other chakras. We can therefore consider this next class the most important in the whole chakra series, and a key to understand deeper the chakra system. When our third chakra, the navel point, is strong we radiate confidence, and we are committed to the highest expression of ourselves.

SELF PSYCHOLOGY EXERCISES

Contemplate your relationship to your Third Chakra, The Navel Point, with these Self Psychology exercises.

The themes of this chakra are vitality, energy, personal power, and also anger and frustration.

The center of the third chakra is the navel point, but it encompasses the whole stomach region, including the organs (stomach, liver, spleen, gallbladder, intestines + the lower lungs and diaphragm). It is associated with the gland in the pancreas.

Journal through the following questions. If you find that your mind takes a different direction and additional questions come up, follow your trail for additional deeper insights.

How do I feel today? What is moving within me right now?

How strong is my navel point?

Can I trust myself?

Can I rely on myself?

Can I trust my ability to commit and to keeping my word?

What can I do to improve my sense of self trust?

What can I do to be better at keeping my commitments?

How can I make the right commitments so that I always keep my word?

Do I feel there is a resonance between my output of energy, and the energy I receive?

How can I cultivate more energy? (if I feel that I am sometimes lacking)

What drains me?

What energizes me?

What lights me up?

> Make a commitment or a strategy to do more of the things that energize you and lights you up, and let go of at least one thing that drains you.
