APRIL 27 - MAY 6, 2026

Amritsar — Goindwal — Dharamsala — Anandpur Sahib — Rishikesh

Join me for 10 unforgettable days in India, where we will visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, take on (or support those taking on) the 84 steps to liberation while alive at Goindwal + spend time in the beautiful Himalayan mountains in Dharamsala, and visit the seat of the yogis and the holy river Gangas, in Rishikesh.

Here’s what we will be doing…

AMRITSAR & THE GOLDEN TEMPLE

We start the yatra in Amritsar—home of the Golden Temple and the center of Sikh dharma. The energy of the Golden Temple encompasses the entire city, and holds a very specific frequency that is felt everywhere.

In the Golden Temple, mantras are sung everyday 24/7. This place project a powerful beam of energy and light, and uplifts and opens the heart of everyone visiting.

Don’t necessarily expect calm and serenity—this is India, with all its colors, chaos, crowds, and people of all walks of life. The calm is felt on the inside (or for me it definitely is).

I love Amritsar and look forward to leading the group there, because I always feel a deep sense of neutrality in this space, which deeply roots me in my heart and connects me more profoundly to my soul and true Self.

In Amritsar we will be visiting several Gurdwaras, and take day trips to nearby places, like Sultanpur Lodi, where we will visit the Kali Bein river, where Guru Nanak disappeared for three days, and then reappeared, chanting Japji.

GOINDWAL & THE STEPS

On this yatra there is the opportunity to attain liberation through completion of the Steps of Goindwal.

The Steps of Goindwal have for hundreds of years been a place of pilgrimage, and an opportunity for anyone who is able to complete the steps in the following way, to liberate their soul + 7 generations of their family, before and after them.

The 84 steps leads down to a water basin, and you chant Japji on each step, and dip in the pool after each completion (you begin at the bottom and work your way up). Reciting Japji, if you’re really fast, takes between 8 - 12 minutes, so it takes around 15-20 hours for most people to complete the steps. Doing this is said to liberate you. Reaching liberation while alive, is the highest and most coveted incarnational achievements. It is possible when completing these steps.

There is also the opportunity to do the steps with the mul mantra (reciting 11 rounds of the mul mantra, then dip 84x), for anyone who might not feel comfortable or ready to do the full Japji (mul mantra holds the essence of the Japji). This takes about 4-5 hours.

When I fist went to India, I had been severely sick just two weeks before, and was advised against, by my doctor, to do the steps. While I was very disappointed that I wasn’t able to partake, I had the great honor of assisting and serving those who did the steps. This was an incredible experience and opportunity. If anyone cannot / does not want to do the steps, they are welcome to offer seva (selfless service) to those on the steps, just like I did the first time (and we will be sure to have sevadars for anyone who does the steps!)

We will keep our base in Amritsar, so anyone who cannot or does not wish to come with us to Goindwal can stay there, or can come see the place with us, and then go back to Amritsar after (about a 1 hour drive—we will arrange taxis).

For anyone signing up for the yatra, I will offer a special workshop on the steps of Goindwal and the Japji..

DHARAMSALA — HOME OF THE DALAI LAMA

After Goindwal + a day of rest in Amritsar, we will drive to Dharamsala—a mountain village in the Himalayas, that is also the home of the Dalai Lama.

Dharamsala has a beautiful, serene and peaceful energy, and offers a beautiful walk around the Dalai Lama’s compounds, with prayer wheels lining the sides of the walk + if you go early you will meet many monks, out for their daily exercise walk.

I have to be honest, there’s another draw for me about Dharamsala too: the shopping! Here you will find incredible and rare crystals, authentic Tibetan singing bowls, tangkas, cashmere and pashmina shawls, statues, jewelry, malas, and much more. We will have plenty of time there to explore the markets.

ANANDPUR SAHIB

From Dharamsala we will drive to Anandpur Sahib, which was the home of Guru Gobind Singh, and the place where he created the order of the Khalsa.

This very beautiful and majestic Gurdwara (in all white) is situated on a hill, with beautiful views and a special energy of grace and warrior spirit.

We will be staying the night in nearby Chandigarh, as Anandpur Sahib itself is a small place with not many hotel options.

RISHIKESH

Rishikesh is the place of the yogis and Himalayan saints, and from here we will have access to the Gangas—the holy river that runs from the Himalayas through India.

We will visit Gurdwaras and temples, and also have some more down time, for ayurvedic massage, Kundalini yoga classes, shopping, group dinners and hanging out and relaxing before we all leave.
