Sit in an Easy Pose.
Gyan Mudra. Palms are facing up on the knees.
Closed and focused at the Third Eye Point.
Inhale very deeply, and then chant the mantra as you exhale very slowly. Inhale deeply and again chant on exhale.
Chant the mantra:
SA RE GA MA PA DHA NEE SAA TAA NAA MAA
RAA MAA DAA SAA
SAA SAY SO HUNG
The points of mental focus are very specific. Divide the spine in 11 parts beginning with the triangle at the base of the spine for Saa and proceed up the spine in equal increments so that Nee is chanted at the neck.
Saa is chanted at the back of the head (the memory area which is damaged by drugs).
Taa is at the solar center (from which can come a smell that attracts all humans).
Naa is at the soft spot (the point of death from which the soul leaves the body).
Maa is at the edge of the forehead to the third eye point. (Maa represents creative destiny and the forehead is the point of destiny.)
The remaining sounds are beamed from the Third Eye Point out to Infinity.
This Kriya may be practiced for any length of time, the longer the better.
This Kriya balances the Earth and Ether elements within your being. Kauri Kriya is connected to Saraswati, the goddess of Naad — the sacred sound current of the Universe. The master of Naad is Akaal, the undying consciousness.
This Kriya is considered the first step in raising energy from the lower centers to the higher ones. It guides apana (eliminative energy) into the region of prana (creative life-force energy), helping these energies become balanced and properly directed. Eventually, both prana and apana merge into Saraswati — the thousand-petaled lotus, the solar center of highest consciousness.
This process is said to reverse the chakra, allowing the nectar to flow from it. Through this practice, one may experience a deeply balanced state of consciousness capable of achieving anything. Kauri Kriya is also believed to tune the practitioner into the Unknown.
The first twelve sounds, Siri Sargam, are considered the essence and completion of all sound. They are said to bring melody, expression, and power, influencing the reality you create around you.
On a physical level, this Kriya stimulates the glandular system in a way similar to the eleventh day of the new moon cycle and may also support weight reduction. Listening carefully to the sounds is an essential part of the practice.
In ancient times, this Kriya was practiced in large groups seated in concentric circles beneath a dome, with one person in the center leading the chanting.
