LOVE MORE THIS YEAR ON VALENTINE’S

If you’re in a relationship, Valentine’s Day can be a fun, flirtatious little February highlight. Or it can be a total bummer, depending on your expectations (and your partners inability to meet them😂)

I’m from the north and honestly didn’t even grow up with Valentine’s day until the “holiday” seeped into my awareness in my late adolescent years. I’m not really that into it, however I am really into relationships and how to make them successful, so an excuse to romance is therefore always welcome in my world.

The problem with these days (and I would argue relationships in general) is that there’s so much expectation around them. We generally tend to set the bar high in relationships. It's a lot about needs being met (our needs), and there’s so many opportunities for us and our partner to get it wrong.

Are we really that great at communications what we need?

Are we really as loving and forgiving towards our partner, as we expect them to be towards us?

Are we able to cut through our patterns and subconscious programming, and not just use our partnership as an outlet for our frustrations and emotions?

Relationships are so essential to our lives and it is part of what builds our identity. Through the other person we get to experience ourselves.

But relationships are also where we work a lot of things out. And anyone who is willing to stay with us after we’ve (yet again) unleashed all of our issues on them is a f***ing saint (that’s a good attitude for all of us to adopt).

Can we keep our partner in the highest regard, and worship the ground they walk on?

Can we truly appreciate them for their unique qualities, the ones we fell in love with in the first place?

Can we treat them as a dignified human being? Can we treat yourself as one?

This Valentine’s Day my prayer is that we may love a little more than we are being loved back. That we make the extra effort to give and not just expect to receive.

If we all got on that current we could flood the planet with a high frequency that all would benefit from.

Love is acceptance, first and foremost.

Can you, not just love, but accept the one you’re with? (If you’re having troubles or need a little extra help, see below for my special “to the rescue” Valentine’s Day offer.)

With this I wish you all a happier and a bit more reflective and conscious Valentine’s Day this year.
