DOING WHAT I DO BEST: YATRA

This past weekend I went on a yatra.

A yatra is not a leisurely trip or a vacation, although it might be as enjoyable as a trip or a vacation.

A yatra is a trip where you go to expand your consciousness.

Yatra was something I got introduced to through my spiritual practice, and is something that is practiced within that community.

A yatra is a way to expand your consciousness, just like the daily practice, events like White Tantric Yoga and going to classes and trainings. A yatra is a way of aligning yourself with the energy currents of planet earth and with the stream of consciousness which is beyond time.

Many people go visit places, that are considered “holy”. But not everyone leave with something, that could be considered “expanding” their consciousness.

Opening up those spaces to receive, takes intention.

This weekend we set ourselves up for having that experience with a yatra, first to White Tantric Yoga (quick google search can give you an idea of what that is) in Barcelona, where one day is the equivalent of practicing for 10 years nonstop—as if you were meditating day and night for 10 years straight.

Then we went one hour outside of Barcelona, to Montserrat, a monastery and a church which houses a the black Madonna. The black madonna is considered in esoteric Christianity as a symbol for the hidden christ teachings for women, and a symbol of the female lineage of christ (Mary Magdalene and Sarah Tamara). More on this fascinating topic another time—this post is about yatra, after all.

So what was the intention behind our yatra?

My experience with meditating at “sacred sites” have been absolutely astonishing for me. I have received my direction in life through going to holy places and meditating. I am not exaggerating—my life has taken some drastic turns whenever I have visited holy sites and meditated there. It is more powerful for me when we go as a group, and a teacher of mine is present—they help open up the space more deeply—but even going on my own has often times given me the answer and the direction I needed.

Places to go to on a yatra, can be a place where someone else has historically received enlightenment, or where a group of practitioners or a spiritual community used to reside. Those places attracted those people for a reason, and it is an indicator of a place or an area that house more energy, than what is usual, or crosses a certain type of current of energy.

Once you are there you want to put yourself into a meditative state, so that you can go beyond the everyday chatter of the mind, which can be distracting you from picking up on the frequency and messages. It is easier to tap into that state when you have a daily practice of tapping into that state. You can do any meditation you wish, although some are preferable to others, as they are more discrete and catch less attention (I wouldn’t start Subagh kriya in a monastery or church fx), or you tap into the Shunnia and Sunniai state of nothingness and of listening.

The mystical events I have experienced at a sacred site, don’t translate well into this blogpost format, so I won’t be sharing anything specific about what happened this past weekend or in my past yatra experiences. But as I was saying earlier: direction in life, is what yatraing has given me and continues to give me. I have literally received direction to anything from finding my life partner, what to focus on when teaching + inspiration when I was stuck on a project and blessings, and also mystical abilities and occurrences which have confirmed my experience of this planet, as having way many more layers than what we meet in every day life.

The practice of going on Yatras helps move me forward, and gives speed and direction to my life.

This past year I have gone to France, to Sainte Baume for the Mary Magdalene cave, and to Israel (for the third time) to visit the countless holy sites there and spend time in the energy of the land, and to many places in Mallorca—which is what drew me to live on the island in the first place. The energy there is of a high frequency. Mallorca is a quartz island and houses many places where historical figures have received enlightenment, or creativity insights, and when you can tap into that, it can speed up and accelerate your growth. And now to Montserrat where I had the most intense bodily experience I’ve ever had bowing to a statue(!)—it was wild.

I am telling you my experience with Yatras, to encourage your own curiosity when visiting sites, to give a little bit of direction for what to do when you are there, and to potentially help accelerate your growth. We need people on this planet who are moving at the speed of light, creating change, taking charge with a conscious mind, and who can become leaders of this new era. I believe that understanding how to pick up information across timelines will help us get to that place faster. There is a message for us hidden in plain sight. The more people learn to tap into it the better for our collective consciousness. When we learn to listen, we make fewer mistakes, and spend less time roaming around in the illusions of life. Kundalini Yoga is a Shakti Path after all, and we are here to take action, to lead, and to create change. I believe in the winning combination of daily practice, gathering in spiritual community (trainings, White Tantric Yoga etc.), and yatras, where we can get a stronger direction in life.
