THE BIRTH OF SOMETHING NEW
A lot of change is happening right now.
On the astrological scene we are facing a paradigm shift when Pluto moves into Aquarius tomorrow. We are also only just transitioning out of the Spring Equinox and yesterday was the astrological New Year, with the New Moon in Aries.
This could be an exciting time, but if you feel a sense of resistance, know that this is very valid and normal too.
Right now is a good moment to learn more about how we react to change. Are we embracing? Or we avoiding? Are we hesitant, even fearful of what’s to come? Or might this give us a sense of hope for our personal and collective future?
Change is the only constant of the universe. We change constantly (on a vibrational, atomic and cellular level, and then moving up from there), and the world around is too. Some people do very well with change while others can feel it as a deep fear of the unknown. This is largely determined by how safe we felt in child- and infant-hood (and which is why this is the main priority for the yogi mammas).
Change means building the new, and it means tearing down the old. A fall and a rise.
I am called to draw parallels to birth here. This time right now feels like a transition, and it is this transition phase during birth when a woman often wants to “quit”, turn around and leave, searching for the exit door. Oftentimes this transition is met with the realization “I really am doing it”, and also the deep realization that “everything is going to change now”.
I believe we will be moving through transition very soon as a collective. The changes are coming, and they will stir up uncomfortable emotions as Pluto always does, eventually and essentially rooting out what is no longer true.
On a more personal or micro cosmic scale, the transition phase is something many are familiar with (even if you have not given birth). as the moment before something big happens—before a breakthroughs happens, or when setting up a project or business. This is the moment when many want to quit—just like women in birth often search for a way out during transition. And it is also the moment when we overcome the fear of the change.
The transition moment is the pivotal time when many actually do quit. We had an idea, we nurtured it, grew it, and now we are in the process just before we can really start to harvest the rewards of our efforts. And for some of us (I totally acknowledge that this process is not as pronounced for everyone—but I believe the reader can still relate to it, whether this is about overcoming in a small or major scale) this is the moment when our fear of success and of the change coming with that success takes over. We start to look at the whole machinery, and we decide that perhaps it’s better to avoid it. Oftentimes this happens in the subconscious mind—our conscious mind can be totally oblivious. We might tell ourselves that this isn’t actually our right place, and that we should lay low, drop the thing or convince us that there’s something better for us to do instead. These are some of the defense mechanism that we use to avoid change. Even though they might themselves mask as change (changing direction, changing course etc.) they are actually what we use to avoid the real change, the energetic core change that will cause the actual shifts in our life.
I am talking about this because in order to become more successful (happy, aligned with our purpose, living in our highest potential) we need to recognize what many of us are doing to ourselves, right before the moment a big breakthroughs happens. Just like a woman in transition will have to go to a very new and very deep place within before going to the next phase (yes there’s a phase after transition, this is only the stage before the real delivery process “the push” happens), we also, whenever we birth any kind of project, will have to recognize and get comfortable with this moment before the big push where our primal fear of change will set in. If we know what to expect, we know how to continue. Because unlike in birth where there isn’t another way out and the birth is inevitable, when we are birthing projects we have a chance to leave it all behind. Recognizing the human behavior and drawing the parallels to a primal act like birth might just give you an idea of what you are going to face whenever “birthing” something new.
With this information at hand, how will you react the next time you are faced with “transition”? Are you ready to go through your fears and on to the other side? Will you be able to recognize the transition, and decode your emotional and mental reactions? Many people live whole lives always fleeing during the moment of transition. This will ensure that there is no growth. If we can learn instead to recognize the behavior, then we can help ourselves through instead, and reap the rewards of our efforts: the big energetic upgrade that is a soul satisfying experience, and which is our birth right. You didn’t come here to just stay safe, you came here because this planet is the greatest opportunity your soul can have to experience and learn about change, the biggest moments being the coming and going, but in between we have many opportunities to be reborn and die too.
So the next time that you are faced with transitions in life, know that this is the moment you have been waiting for. It is normal to want to run away, look away, change direction into something more safe. But if you can stay alert, and consciously make it through this moment (and you might even have to get to a place of vocal and loud discomfort) you will get to the real juice of life, and that’s what makes life so worth living.
